Brooklyn D.

Brooklyn has been acting on stage for six years and has participated in several local films. She has been nominated for two Broadway World/Louisville Awards (2018, 2019). Most recently she received a National YoungArts award after competing against thousands of high school students across the country. Her focus throughout high school has been honing her craft and preparing herself to study in a prestigious conservatory following her graduation. Brooklyn's mentors, directors and teachers often comment about her infectious energy and her drive to achieve her best performance possible. Her personality is warm, outgoing, and genuine. She truly wants the best from herself and for her cast-mates. Brooklyn's talent has also been touted in several local theatre reviews, for example, her role as Lottie in Harbor (Pandora Productions): Marty Rosen, LEO Weekly “…and this virtuoso cast is perfectly honed… Durs, a freshman at YPAS, but a veteran of several Commonwealth Theatre productions, gives a powerful, nuanced performance in a demanding, heart-wrenching role.” and for her role as Henry V in Henry V (Commonwealth Theatre Center): Keith Waits, Arts-Louisville "Brooklyn Durs is so fully in command in these scenes, so fluidly expressive of the emotional life of the character, that she becomes the beating heart of the production.”
